Adopted June 1, the strategy outlines a roadmap for how the city can support existing businesses, attract new investment and talent, while strengthening economic resilience.
At the heart of the strategy is an intention to ensure the benefits of the city’s growth are shared across the whole community, keeping Langford “liveable, vibrant and economically resilient.”
“This is huge for the city,” said Mayor Scott Goodmanson, acknowledging it was a first in the city’s 34-year history since incorporation.
“There’s a whole lot of silent cheers going on right now,” he added after council voted unanimously to adopt the strategy.
The five-year plan identifies priority initiatives for the city, such as business retention programs, downtown revitalization efforts, talent attraction strategies and innovation support, explained Donna Petrie, senior manager of communications and economic development.
