A land assembly for two residential towers that was heralded as a new beginning for Langford’s downtown five years ago is now being declared a nuisance, a magnet for squatters and dumpers, and a “blight on the entire city.”
Langford council on Monday ordered that four homes be torn down and the foundations and debris removed, in the latest attempt to stem the fallout from failed high-rise projects in the city.
The four homes on Sunderland Road and Arncote Avenue have been abandoned and boarded up, their properties strewn with dumped garbage and hazardous waste, which has attracted rodents.
