Langford wants pause on housing targets after provincial funds suspended

Langford wants the province to suspend housing targets for the city until it reinstates funding for affordable and Indigenous projects.

The city is already well on its way to meeting the province’s mandated target of 2,993 new homes by 2030. Since the order last fall, Langford has delivered 794 units, far exceeding a first-year target of 449 rental units.

But there are no non-profit supportive housing projects and none designated for First Nations under construction or in an approval process.
